Delhi is a city that keeps pulling me in, surprising me every time with its mix of ancient roots and bold modernity. At first, the sheer energy—honking horns, bustling streets, and the non-stop pace—felt intense. But somewhere along the way, I started to tune into its rhythm, and now, I can’t get enough of it. There’s a life to Delhi that’s impossible to capture on screen or in the typical stories you hear; it’s so much more than the India you see in the media.
What fascinates me is how, beneath the buzz, Delhi has layers. One moment, you’re in awe of a centuries-old monument, and the next, you’re in sleek, futuristic neighborhoods like Aerocity, with posh cafes and designer stores that could rival any global city. And then there are the quiet pockets—places like Sunder Nursery, where the city pauses, offering a moment of peace. Delhi has this way of constantly unfolding itself, showing a different side every time, and that’s what keeps me coming back. It’s a city that doesn’t just have history; it has soul, mystery, and the kind of charm you only find when you look a little closer.
Here are some of the Snap-Worthy Places and hidden gems to explore in Delhi;
India Gate, Delhi
There’s something magical about India Gate—especially around sunset or after dark when it’s illuminated and towering over Rajpath. For the best photos, take a walk around the lush lawns to capture different perspectives of the iconic arch. What I love most is how the busy crowds, playful kids, and local street vendors bring a lively, authentic feel to your shots. The contrast of the historic monument against the everyday bustle of Delhi makes for a perfect frame. Whether it’s glowing in the fading light or standing bright against the night sky, India Gate always feels camera-ready, but it’s the energy of the place that makes it truly unforgettable!

Lotus Temple
The Lotus Temple is absolutely stunning with its unique petal-shaped design. If you can, visit just before sunset—there’s something magical about the way the soft evening light makes the white marble glow. The peaceful vibe here is a breath of fresh air amidst the city’s chaos, and it really comes through in your photos. My favourite shots are from the surrounding gardens, where the greenery perfectly frames the temple, making it look even more majestic. It’s one of those places where you just feel calm while capturing its beauty. Trust me, you won’t want to miss this!

Qutub Minar
Qutub Minar is one of those landmarks that leaves you in awe the moment you see it. Its towering height and intricate carvings make it a photographer’s dream, whether you’re snapping it from afar or getting up close to admire the details. I highly recommend visiting early in the morning when the light is soft, and you can explore the surrounding ruins in peace. The different angles you’ll find are perfect for capturing the grand scale of the entire complex. And if you’re into selfies, don’t miss the chance to take one from the base for a dramatic upward shot—it’s the perfect way to get yourself and the impressive minaret in a single, epic frame!

Taj Mahal, Agra
If you’re in New Delhi, a day trip to the Taj Mahal is absolutely unmissable—after all, it’s one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Trust me Arriving at sunrise is a must, as the golden hour light and morning mist create a magical glow on the white marble. Plus, if you get there right when it opens, you’ll have the chance to take in the beauty without the usual crowds, which makes for some truly stunning, peaceful photos. For a quieter, more unique shot, head to the banks of the Yamuna River at sunset. Watching the Taj Mahal reflected in the water as the sky turns golden is simply breathtaking—it’s one of those sights I’ll never forget. Read more about Agra here.

Humayun’s Tomb
Humayun’s Tomb feels like stepping into a time capsule of Mughal grandeur—every detail is a testament to its rich history. The symmetry of the architecture is mesmerizing, and it’s easily one of the most photogenic spots in Delhi. One of my favourite things to do is explore the surrounding gardens, where you can find hidden perspectives of the tomb framed by lush greenery. And if you time it just right, you can catch its reflection perfectly mirrored in the water channels, which feels almost surreal. What really stands out is the serene atmosphere—it’s as if the rush of the city melts away, leaving you to fully appreciate the beauty and craftsmanship.

Lodhi Art District
Lodhi Colony is like Delhi’s very own open-air gallery, where the streets have turned into a vibrant canvas of colorful murals and stunning street art. I’d recommend wandering through early in the morning when the roads are quieter, giving you the perfect chance to capture the explosion of colours without the usual hustle and bustle. Each mural here feels like a piece of storytelling, with every corner offering something fresh and unexpected—making it a dream for photographers and Instagram lovers alike. It’s the kind of place where art and the everyday merge, and you can’t help but feel inspired.

Jama Masjid in Old Delhi, just a stone’s throw from New Delhi, is one of India’s largest and most impressive mosques, with a courtyard spacious enough to hold 25,000 people. For a small fee, you can climb one of the minarets, and trust me, the bird’s-eye view of the bustling city below is worth every step. From the courtyard, you’ll have the perfect angle to capture the grand domes and towering minarets framed against the open sky—a dramatic shot that truly brings out the mosque’s timeless beauty.

Escape New Delhi for the day and dive into the soulful charm of Haridwar and Rishikesh. Start in Rishikesh, where crossing the Lakshman Jhula or Ram Jhula bridges over the Ganges feels almost surreal—the river views are simply stunning and make for the perfect photo backdrop. The ashrams here, like Parmarth Niketan and the Beatles Ashram, are filled with colorful murals and peaceful corners that practically beg to be captured on camera. Then, head to Haridwar in time for the Ganga Aarti at Har Ki Pauri. Watching thousands of oil lamps float along the river at sunset is pure magic; it’s one of those rare moments that feels too beautiful to be real. Both towns are more than just scenic—they’re an experience you’ll carry with you, filled with color, energy, and the quiet power of the Ganges.

The Red Fort
Exploring the Red Fort feels even more magical when you have a bit of space to yourself. For the best experience, arrive early in the morning, when the fort is quiet, and you can almost feel its stories come alive in the stillness. Wandering through the gardens and courtyards before the crowds arrive lets you capture its grandeur from different, undisturbed angles. If you want a unique shot, head to the riverbank where you can frame the fort against the sky and catch its reflection in the water—it’s an often-overlooked perspective. At sunset, even with fewer people, the fort glows in a way that feels almost otherworldly. It’s one of those places that rewards the patient explorer.

Take a two-day trip from New Delhi to the lush wilderness of Jim Corbett National Park for an unforgettable wildlife adventure. Imagine setting off at dawn in an open jeep amidst the mountains, with the cool morning air and the hum of the wilderness surrounding you as you venture deeper into the heart of the park (my favourite part of the whole experience). The thrill builds as you scan the landscape for a flash of orange and black—spotting a Bengal tiger in the wild is an experience you’ll never forget. But Corbett has so much more to offer: peaceful scenes of elephants bathing, deer grazing, and vibrant birds filling the trees with color. It’s a trip that makes you feel part of nature’s story, capturing moments that stay with you long after you leave.

- Attend a Farmer’s Market at Sunder Nursery on a Sunday Morning
Sunder Nursery is well-known for its breathtaking Mughal-era monuments, but here’s a little secret—not many people know that every Sunday it turns into a lively farmer’s market. I wandered in one morning and was greeted by rows of fresh, organic fruits and vegetables, the smell of warm, freshly baked bread, and even some artisanal cheeses that you just can’t resist trying.
