Photography is more than just an art form; it’s a way of capturing life’s moments and conveying emotions through images. Photography makes me see the ordinary and mundane things in life in a whole new light. I believe, through my lens, I can transform a simple scene into something extraordinary.
Most of my photographs you see on my blog have been captured on my Phone and GoPro so I believe to really capture captivating moments you got to have an eye of a photographer than an expensive camera gear. Ofcourse, a great camera can make the experience rich with great quality but all you need is a phone and a passion for Photography to begin with!
Photography has been my passion for as long as I can remember, and it has been the cornerstone of my journey as an emerging photographer. It is this passion that has helped me to stay focused, driven, and committed, even during difficult times. It is the reason why I am always looking for new ways to improve my skills and techniques, experimenting with new angles and perspectives, and exploring new territories. The small instances that occur in learning and adjusting and creating magic through lens taught me a lot more than some monumental events of my life. So, I decided to share some of the takeaways of life that I learned from Photography. Here are just a few:
1. Perspective is everything.
Through photography, I have learned that perspective is everything. The way you see the world and the way you frame your subject can make all the difference in the final image. Taking the time to explore different angles, playing with light and shadow, and experimenting with composition can help you create truly unique and compelling images. One of the many significant skills that you will need as a photographer is the skill of observation. I have developed a keen eye for detail and can notice things that others might miss. It’s an incredible skill that has helped me appreciate the beauty of the world around me. This skill has spilled over into my daily life, making me more aware and present in the moment.
2. The world is full of beauty.
One of the most rewarding aspects of photography is the opportunity to explore the world around you and discover its hidden beauty. From the natural wonders of landscapes to the simple elegance of everyday objects, there is beauty all around us if we take the time to look for it. I can’t help but appreciate life and the small things in life and to see the beauty in the world around me that usually go unnoticed by people around me.
3. Patience is key.
Waiting for the right light, the perfect moment, or the right subject takes time and can often be frustrating. However, with patience, you can capture moments that are truly unique and special. I have learned that the best photos often require a lot of waiting, and that patience is an important quality for success in photography and life in general. Photography is an art. Like any other art form, it requires time and patience.
Even if I am clear about my objectives, it takes multiple shots, sometimes about hundreds of shots, to get a picture worth it all. Photography taught me to be patient with the world around me. The world will not speed up for me just because I am in a hurry for that shot. So instead, we need to calm down and wait for the moment to unfurl on its own. It’s something that I have learned to apply to other areas of my life as well.
4. Adaptability
With photography, you will need to go the extra mile, metaphorically and literally. You have to dig the best of the moments out of thousands that pass through your lenses. It has taught me to adjust my attitude and adapt to new situations. I have had to travel to remote locations, endure harsh conditions, and work with people from different cultures and backgrounds. It has taught me to be flexible and adapt to new situations quickly, which is an essential skill in today’s fast-paced world. In my experience as a photographer, I have stayed in luxurious hotels and cramped shared rooms, lounged on comfortable sofas and trekked through challenging terrain, feasted on gourmet cuisine and subsisted on meager rations of biscuits and chips. It’s all about constant adaptation and enjoying the journey.
5. Storytelling
Photography is not just about capturing pretty pictures; it is a powerful tool for storytelling. A single photograph can tell a story, convey an emotion, or capture a moment in time. I have learned that the best photos are those that tell a story or evoke an emotion in the viewer. It is through storytelling that we can connect with others and create a deeper understanding of the world around us.
6. There is always something new to learn
Finally, photography has taught me that there is always something new to learn. The world of photography is constantly evolving, with new techniques, technologies, and styles emerging all the time. As a photographer, it is important to stay curious, experiment with new ideas, and continue learning to improve your craft and be consistent.
I am grateful for the opportunities that photography has given me, and I will continue to pursue it with passion and dedication. Photography has taught me many valuable lessons that have had a profound impact on my life. From patience and perspective to storytelling and continuous learning, these lessons have helped me grow as a photographer and as a person. I hope that these insights will inspire you to explore the world of photography and discover the lessons it has to offer.
